In Chapter 544, Blackbeard and Luffy begin brawling, but Luffy is just not strong and focused enough to face Blackbeard properly. With Jinbe's suggestion and Chief Warden Magellan's arrival, Luffy and the gang decide to continue their escape to the top.
Blackbeard and his crew meet Magellan, only to get attack by his Poison Hydra from his Doku Doku no Mi.
